The 116' dive liveaboard ship Nautilus Explorer visits Socorro
Island and the Revillagigedo Archipelago every winter and we
are really pleased to work with this fine operation in
offering a "Light and Motion Socorro
demo trip" to our valued clients. Mike Lever, Captain of the
Nautilus, explained to us that throughout the year he and his team
offer diving from "icebergs
to mantas".
Their summer season is spent exploring Alaska
and British Columbia, diving with giant pacific octopus, wolfeels,
sealions and the incredibly prolific invertebrate life that the
area is famous for as well as whale watching, climbing onto icebergs,
viewing spectacular calving glaciers and doing lots of shore
expeditions. In the fall, the vessel then voyages down to visit
the white sharks
of Isla Guadalupe before continuing on to the Sea of Cortez.
The majority of their winter season is spent diving
the offshore and remote volcanic archipelago of which Socorro Island
is the most famous. This is where you can truly get up close and
more intimate with giant mantas than you ever thought possible.
The photography opportunities are endless. You will also see silky, galapagos, silver tip, hammerhead
and white tip reef sharks, jacks, wahoo, tuna, turtles, dolphins
and a surprising amount of macro life.. If you are lucky, you might
even encounter a tiger shark, whaleshark or have an inwater encounter
with humpback whales.
The Nautilus is noted for being exceptionally
camera friendly with both PC and Mac computers with card readers,
Photoshop and IPhoto set up in the main salon and networked to guests
laptops, a large plasma TV with DVD, CD, SVideo, RCA and computer inputs available,
E-6 processing, a slide projector, rental D-100's in Titan housings
available and a crew who are truly interested in photography. Interested
