Better Design
1. Great controls mean better video

Light and Motion was founded by devoted shooters who demand ease of use as a key attribute to enabling great video. We drive design from the user experience and not the other
way around. You won't see this in a features list, but you will experience it the first time you take us diving. As Stan Waterman said; "I have relied on Light and Motion
housings for many years. Their finger touch controls, light weight systems plus the most advanced electronics, lighting, and optics in the business are a joy to work with."
2. System Design
An important element of an easy to use video system is designing the parts to work together. Light and Motion is the only manufacturer to design accessories that mate cleanly.
Our LED battery pods slide onto the bottom of our housings and the light arms lock onto the handles for easy positioning. We even build-in wireless light controls into all the
models so when you are ready to add lights its just plug and play. Â

20 years of experience designing electronic controls, optics, and mechanical housings also means 20 years of lugging equipment around the globe. These days it is harder than ever to
travel with gear. That is why we have created our travel packages. These custom designed rugged cases meet the carry-on requirements of planes and stand up to the abuse of long
trips and boat hands. The cases support our lights, lenses and housings as well as maintenance items to make traveling a bit easier. Â
3. Details matter
Why are we the only company to offer a wet/dry microphone [1]? Its because we like filming at the surface on the way to the dive site as well as in the water. We are users and
we pay attention to the details that make video fun and rewarding. All our latches [2] & [3] lock to reduce the chance of accidental flooding and all our housings come standard
with a leak detector. We are the only company to offer an internal "Flip macro" system [4] that creates remarkable dynamic range for shooting with a single lens. We are also the
first company to develop high power LED lights [5] with clean even beam patterns ideal for enhancing color in your video scenes. Our battery pods [6] integrate cleanly and allow
you to easily remove the batteries to charge them without removing your pods.
4. State-of-the-art Electronic controls
Our new 5th generation electronic controls are completely housed on the rear plate and can be swapped in the field. Some say mechanical controls are more reliable but our experience proves
that mechanical designs are more prone to accidental flooding and take the fun out of shooting due to their cumbersome interface.
5. Built-in monitors
All our housings have monitors built in. We have worked hard to put the best high resolution monitors available on our housings. Our standard 2.7" 16:9 screen comes direct from
Sony and is as good an LCD screen as we have used. Our OLED (organic LED) monitor is a first in the dive industry. This remarkable monitor is many times brighter than LCDs, has
a viewing angle in all directions of close to 180 degrees, blazingly fast response times and contrast ratios of 1,000,000:1 that produce deep blacks and astounding scene detail.
